Tbilisi has been ranked the world’s No. 2 Trending Destination for 2026 in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations, placing Georgia’s capital immediately behind Madeira, Portugal.
The annual awards recognise destinations that received strong traveller feedback across Tripadvisor’s global community. For the 2026 results, rankings were calculated using the quality and quantity of reviews for accommodation, restaurants and things to do, submitted between 1 October 2024 and 30 September 2025.
This year’s programme celebrates 270 destinations across 60 countries. Within the global Trending Destinations list, Tbilisi ranked ahead of Chicago, Quy Nhon, Puerto Escondido, Milan, Glasgow, Abu Dhabi, Recife and San Carlos de Bariloche.
A global spotlight on Tbilisi
The ranking reflects the growing international attention surrounding Tbilisi as a city-break destination. The Georgian capital combines historic neighbourhoods, distinctive architecture, a lively food and wine culture, and a creative contemporary scene - all within a compact urban setting framed by the hills of the Mtkvari valley.
For the city, recognition from a major global travel platform can strengthen visibility among travellers who may be discovering Georgia for the first time. It also reinforces Tbilisi’s position as an increasingly prominent destination connecting Europe, the Caucasus and Asia.
What this means for property interest
Tourism awards do not by themselves determine property performance. However, greater destination awareness can support the wider environment in which residential, hospitality and short-stay property operate. More international attention may introduce Tbilisi to future visitors, residents, entrepreneurs and buyers who had not previously considered the city.
For anyone evaluating property in Tbilisi, the Tripadvisor ranking is best viewed as one positive signal alongside the fundamentals that matter most: location, construction quality, developer reputation, legal due diligence, operating costs, rental strategy and long-term demand.
